Part 5 of our series shining a light on the realities of WordPress
By now, we’ve covered WordPress’s biggest problems — security issues, plugin bloat, and admin frustrations. But there’s one more layer to consider:
The WordPress ecosystem itself is becoming unstable.
And we’re not talking about technical glitches — we’re talking about the people behind the platform, and the growing tension within the community that powers it.
WordPress was born as an open-source project for blogging, built and maintained by a passionate community of developers, contributors, and volunteers.
But as the platform grew, so did commercial interests — especially after the rise of Automattic, the company founded by WordPress co-creator Matt Mullenweg. Automattic runs WordPress.com and contributes heavily to the development of WordPress.org (the open-source version).
This creates tension:
In late 2024 and into early 2025, a public clash between Automattic (the company behind WordPress.com) and WP Engine (a major WordPress hosting provider) shook the WordPress ecosystem.
This wasn’t just a business dispute. It was a wake-up call for anyone depending on WordPress to run their site. For a CMS that already struggles with complexity, these community divisions make things worse — not better.
Infinitus CMS isn’t tied to a shifting develoment community or corporate politics. It’s built, hosted, and maintained by our team at Ingenious — and only us.
That means:
In other words: we’re accountable to you, not a fractured developer community.
Over this five-part series, we’ve shown how WordPress:
Infinitus CMS is our answer to all of that.
If you’re ready for a faster, cleaner, more stable platform — designed for real business needs — we’d love to show you what’s possible.
