The Burchfield Penney Art Center (BPAC) is an arts and education institute in Buffalo, NY dedicated to the success and celebration of the WNY region’s creative community. And we were lucky enough to work with them on the development of their new website and collection management system.
The BPAC’s former website was award-winning and served their audience and internal staff very well for many years, but it was due for a refresh.
The visual design of the BPAC’s new website was established by our friends at White Bicycle—who also rebranded the BPAC as a whole—to give them their refreshing new look. The new site boasts big and bold imagery, typography, and vivid colors that breathe new life into the BPAC brand. Their new look is lively and engaging and most certainly worthy of an arts institution of its caliber. The site framework was completely reimagined. And the newly simplified navigational structure makes browsing the site simple and intuitive. And of course, the website and its management system are both responsive and mobile-friendly.
But perhaps the most important contribution Ingenious made to the BPAC’s new website was the development of their custom Collection Management System (CMS). For the management of the BPAC’s site content and their expansive collection, we implemented Archivist—a flexible, web-based software solution for managing collections. Archivist was developed by Ingenious specifically for collection-based institutions, so they can manage their entire digitized collection in one central and secure data repository. The BPAC’s Archivist CMS allows even the least technically inclined staff to efficiently manage their robust collection with ease.
