Hunt Art Gallery’s website was created in anticipation of the gallery’s grand opening in April of 2022. The primary goals for the website were to support the WNY art community by highlighting and providing exposure for local artists as well as encouraging and making easy and accessible the online sale of artists’ work.
These goals were largely accomplished through simple, well-structured site navigation and a clean and inviting UI design. The website is intuitive to navigate, so users can easily find important and relevant content like exhibiting artists and upcoming events. The offsite shop is easily accessible via the primary navigation. And quick access to information like the gallery’s location, contact information, hours of operation, as well as a newsletter sign up can be found in the site footer—so these valuable resources are always readily accessible on any page of the site. The homepage highlights first and foremost the next upcoming exhibition as well as the shop. Content throughout the website can also be linked together by site administrators to provide a more fulfilling user experience—artists, news, and events can be linked to each other so that the associated content is present on the respective profile, news article, or event page.
The visual design of the site is clean, bright, and relatively minimalist, so the focus remains on the visual content and artwork. Site visitors can look forward to a fresh and inviting user experience. As for design style, the site reflects the established brand guidelines and visual style.
The Hunt Art Gallery team can make updates to any and all of the site content as needed with the custom content management system (CMS)—they can easily add or remove artists, create events, publish news articles, and add to their shop among other things.
